Both alternative and Western medical research points out the following factors contributing to a higher risk for prostate disease and cancer:

high blood pressure

diabetes

history of STDs

excessive intake of calcium, especially from dairy

high insulin levels

diet high in fat, especially saturated fat

being overweight or having a beer belly

sedentary lifestyle and professions such as long distance truck driving

low levels of vitamin D

exposure to heavy metals

getting older

high exposure to agricultural pesticides and herbicides

low vitamin E and other antioxidants

high red meat consumption

low selenium

low intake of fruits and vegetables
